Travelling Ukulele Festivals (TUF)
With the support of Townsville City Council and RADF The Jazzuleles were able to deliver a day of ukulele workshops to regional community members. The grant was used to bring ukulele teachers from NSW, VIC and FNQ to enrich and inspire ukulele players. Attendance exceeded expectations. Participants travelled from Atherton, Babinda, Mareeba, Ayr, Mount Isa, Townsville, the Gold Coast and Adelaide. The program included a Flashmob to celebrate Play Music on the Porch Day an annual global event that celebrates community music participation .
Thanks to Cairns City Council and RADF The Jazzuleles we were able to create a travelling ukulele tour to showcase new work & original music. We travelled to four regional towns to encourage, teach and perform ukulele music in collaboration with local ukulele clubs in the regional towns of Atherton, Townsville, Mackay and Gladstone. A fifth event was offerred in Cairns for local ukulele players. The goals of this project were to connect, inspire and encourage small regional ukulele groups to continue delivering and develop thier own positive music hubs.
